The Emergency Medical Services (EMS) team at Houston Healthcare is celebrating its 50th anniversary of providing emergency care to the residents of Houston County. Since December 1972, the EMS service has been saving lives, providing the very best pre-hospital transportation and treatment.
The service has grown tremendously since its inception to include over 80 employees, including Emergency Management Technicians (EMTs) and paramedics, 11 ambulances and seven stations. Serving as the 911 Zone Provider for Houston County, they cover 380 square miles — 24 hours a day, seven days a week, 365 days per year.
“We have a very special team, like family, here. We take care of each other, and that helps us take care of the community. There’s a lot of pride in what we do,” says David Borghelli, Houston Healthcare EMS director.
Houston Healthcare EMS will celebrate its 50th anniversary with a special dinner to honor the team in January.
