Five Physicians Join Houston Healthcare Boards

WARNER ROBINS, GA – Houston Healthcare is welcoming five distinguished physicians to its Hospitals and Systems boards for three-year terms beginning January 1, 2024.

Joining the Houston Healthcare System, Inc. Board, responsible for strategic planning, asset allocation and compensation and benefits are:

Mohammad N. Al-Shroof, MD

Dr. Al-Shroof is a board-certified internal medicine physician practicing at Medical Group of Central Georgia in Warner Robins. He currently serves as Houston Healthcare’s Chief of Medical Staff, where he has been a long-standing member of the Medical Executive Committee and has held other leadership positions. Dr. Al-Shroof received his medical degree from Jordan University School of Medicine in Amman, Jordan, and completed his internal medicine residency at SUNY at Stone Brook Nassau County Medical Center in East Meadow, NY, where he served as chief resident.

John D. Hall, MD

Dr. Hall is a board-certified anesthesiologist practicing at Robins Anesthesia Services in Warner Robins. He received his medical degree from Medical College of Georgia in Augusta, and completed his residency at Wake Forest University in Winston-Salem, NC, where he was chief resident. Dr. Hall has served in several roles with Houston Healthcare including Vice Chief of Medical Staff, Chair of the Credentials Department and Director of the COVID Airway Team. He’s currently a member of Houston Healthcare Medical Staff’s Credentials Committee.

Helen-Louise Moore, MD, FAAP (Ex Officio)

Dr. Moore is a board-certified pediatrician and Fellow of the American Academy of Pediatrics. She received her medical degree from Medical College of Georgia in Augusta and completed her pediatric residency at Children’s Medical Center, also in Augusta. She is an owner of Cornerstone Medical Associates in Warner Robins, where she currently practices. She also founded Central Georgia Women’s Medical Society. In 2019, Dr. Moore received the Jefferson Award, the highest and most prestigious honor recognizing public service in the United States. Dr. Moore serves Houston Healthcare as Chair of Medical Staff Performance Improvement and a member of the Medical Executive Committee.

Joining the Houston Hospitals, Inc. Board, responsible for regulatory and compliance matters, quality of care and patient safety, physician credentialing, and financials are:

Rahil Kazi, MD, FACC

Dr. Kazi is a board-certified cardiologist and Fellow of the American College of Cardiology practicing at Central Georgia Heart Institute in Warner Robins for 27 years. He received his medical degree from Sind Medical College, Karachi University in Karachi, Pakistan, and completed his residency at Saint Mary’s Hospital, Rochester, New York. Dr. Kazi is fellowship-trained in critical care medicine at Wayne State University, cardiology at The University of Arkansas and nuclear cardiology at The University of Alabama Birmingham. In the past he has served in numerous leadership roles at Houston Healthcare including Director of Houston Heart Institute and Cardiac Cath Lab, Chairman of the Advanced Care Department, Secretary/Treasurer of the Medical Executive Committee, Chairman of the Medical Intensive Care Unit, and Chairman of the Medical Staff Performance Improvement Committee to name a few.

Appavuchetty Soundappan, MD

Dr. Soundappan is an internal medicine physician board certified in both internal medicine and hospice and palliative medicine. He received his medical degree from Chennai Medical College in Tamil Nadu, India, and completed his residency at The Brooklyn Hospital Center in Brooklyn, NY. Dr. Soundappan served as past Chief of Staff at Perry Hospital and currently serves as Vice Chief of Staff for Houston Healthcare as well as: Regional Medical Director for Southeast Medical Group; Medical Director for Summerhill Skilled Nursing Facility and Crossroads Community Source, both located in Perry; and Clinical Assistant Professor of Community Medicine for Mercer University School of Medicine in Macon, GA. Dr. Soundappan practices with Southeast Primary Care Partners in Perry, GA.
